With the rapid development of technology, our lives have become more intelligent and convenient. However, on the other hand, our security and privacy may be infringing. While we are enjoying the high-tech life, we should also have vigilance and guard consciousness. One of the first things that you should do to protect yourself online is to consider how you are protecting your data and information.

Google Chrome will provide some options for setting on activity controls page, including web and activity, location history, voice and audio activity, device information, YouTube search history, and YouTube watch history. Before reading these materials, except that the location history is paused, the others are on. It also means that most people don’t realize how much personal information you provide when you use a website.

Just like we often use Google docs, Google slides to complete the group project. We’ve been marveling at how convenient and useful they are. Just share the work with other group members, then the group member can log in their Google account to check and complete the work. But now I think, this way certainly will not protect privacy enough.

Some websites use your search history to judge your preferences. Based on these data, push things that you want. If the site that you are using is ‘free’, then the site and its services are not the product; you are the product. Like some shopping sites, you can see what you like at first sight. This will increase your chances of buying it. Moreover, some video sites, you will always find some recommended videos on the top. Your online habits are being scrutinized and subsequently bought and sold.
